Microneedling at Lume
Regenerative skin therapy to support strength, resilience and radiance
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is one of the most effective skin treatments available for stimulating your skin’s natural renewal process. At Lume, we use the Exceed medical microneedling device, which is TGA approved, FDA cleared and Medsafe listed. This ensures the highest level of precision, safety and performance.
Microneedling works by creating controlled microchannels in the skin. This stimulates your body’s natural healing response and encourages the production of collagen and elastin. Over time, skin becomes firmer, smoother and more even in tone and texture.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
Your session includes:
A full consultation to assess your skin and goals
Medical microneedling using the Exceed device
A take-home bio-cellulose mask to soothe and hydrate
Post-treatment education and ongoing care advice
Microneedling can feel like a warm prickling sensation. Redness is common for 24 to 48 hours following treatment, and deeper work may result in light flaking or dryness.
Before Your First Medical Microneedling Treatment
Healthy skin creates the best results. When you make the decision to invest in medical microneedling, it is important to prepare your skin properly so that you get the most out of your treatment.
Microneedling works by stimulating your skin to regenerate and repair itself. It replicates the skin cells your body is already producing, which means preparation matters. By supporting your skin with hydration, nourishment and gentle actives in the weeks leading up to your appointment, we can encourage the development of stronger, healthier, more resilient skin cells that respond and heal more effectively.
Every skin journey is different, so these recommendations will be tailored to suit your individual needs.
How to Prepare:
Daily SPF
UV radiation causes DNA damage that can interfere with healing and cell turnover. Consistent sun protection is a non-negotiable—both before and after your microneedling treatments.
Topical Vitamin A
Vitamin A supports skin regeneration, strengthens the epidermis, and assists in collagen production. Ideally, it should be introduced at least four weeks prior to treatment. If you’re new to active skincare or have sensitive skin, we’ll guide you through a gentle and appropriate starting point.
Hydration
Aim for at least two litres of water daily, beginning two weeks before your appointment. Optimal hydration supports the creation of plump, healthy cells and more effective healing post-treatment.
Essential Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids support the skin’s barrier and improve cellular function. A high-quality EFA supplement taken daily, ideally for at least four weeks before and continued after treatment, can significantly enhance outcomes.
Targeted Support Based on Skin Concerns:
Pigmentation
A blend of topical vitamins A, B, and C may assist in evening skin tone and reducing the likelihood of post-inflammatory or persistent pigmentation. Daily sun protection is essential to this process.
Acne
Microneedling is best introduced once active breakouts have calmed. Prior to treatment, we’ll focus on reducing inflammation, clearing congestion, and strengthening the skin to establish a stable foundation.
Scarring & Ageing
Topical vitamins A, C, and E can encourage collagen synthesis and cellular renewal. These ingredients are especially beneficial for refining the appearance of scarring, fine lines, and skin laxity.
Aftercare and Healing
Microneedling initiates a natural healing response that continues for several weeks. Your post-care plan will be tailored to your skin, but general aftercare includes:
Avoid applying makeup, heat, or exfoliants for at least 24 hours
Use your aftercare oil/balm and bio-cellulose mask to keep skin calm and protected
Continue using gentle, supportive skincare and avoid active ingredients until advised
Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF daily
Drink plenty of water and maintain good omega-3 intake to support internal hydration and cell strength
Avoid cooling the skin with ice, cold water, or cooling masks etc. This inflammation is a key part of the healing process, and we do not want to interrupt it.
Recovery Add-On: Express Glow Facial with LED
Support your skin’s healing and enhance your results with this calming post-needling treatment, ideally booked within two weeks of your session.
This 30-minute ritual includes a customised double cleanse, enzyme exfoliation under steam, hydrating finishing products and targeted LED light therapy to soothe, replenish and restore glow.
Enjoy a complimentary Gaia Botanical Radiance tea and raw treat to complete the experience.

Results and What to Expect
Microneedling works by stimulating your skin’s natural regeneration process. After your treatment, your skin begins to produce new collagen and elastin, helping to strengthen and revitalise from within.
You may notice an immediate glow and smoother texture in the first few days, but the deeper benefits develop gradually. Most clients see noticeable improvements in tone, texture and firmness around 4 to 6 weeks post-treatment, with continued refinement over the following 24 months.
For optimal results, a series of treatments is usually recommended. The number of sessions will vary depending on your skin goals, but most clients benefit from 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.
We’ll create a personalised plan to support your skin before, during and after each session to ensure visible, lasting results.
